My cousin, Andrea, and her hubby, Justin, were the hosts with mosts as they opened their home to ALL fifteen of us (and more actually). We took over their basement and we had quite the slumber party. Justin took Willie and the kids out on the boat and they had a blast. Thank you, Jensens! Your blessed our socks off and you are VERY cool to hang out with too!
The reunion has put me at a loss for words, which is rather rare for me. I am just in awe of how incredibly blessed we are to have such an amazing family. All the uncles, the aunties, and ten of the twelve cousins made it. Though our roots are in Minnesota, we are spread out all over the USA: Southern California to Maryland with lots of places in between. So many of us made great sacrifices to be there. Proudly, we introduced our children to each other and it all just worked. The kids played beautifully together and bonded in the few days they had together. Perfect harmony. To see the kids giggle, play, tease, and love each other was such a delight. My family welcomed my children with open hearts and arms. Gabriel especially was lovin' the fact he has so MANY cousins! For me, I enjoyed times with people I love and hold dearly in my heart. The gift of family is a miraculous gift to behold.
I finally got to share Minnesota with my children: the beautiful farms, the churches with steeples, and the mosquitoes. I would be remiss not to say how coming back has been somewhat bittersweet. Minnesota isn't the same without my grandpa and my grandma. Being here brings back so many wonderful memories of two very precious people who truly made the world a better place. Thankfully, I know they are in heaven and if they get to see or hear about what goes on while they are awaiting us, I bet they are smiling right about now. What a legacy!
Thank you, Jesus, for such a blessed time. It just couldn't have been any better. Well, maybe a tad longer....
Tomorrow, we hit the road!
