The vacation of my dreams is now a reality. We hit the road yesterday morning by 10am which I find to be quite impressive. I made multiple lists and checked them twice and thrice. However, I didn't remember everything. Willie reminded me I am only human. The logistics of taking this many people away for a couple of weeks can be a tad overwhelming. Okay, truthfully VERY overwhelming on a few occasions. Nonetheless, we are having a great time building family memories. The hours in the car have been what I would even call "nice" so far. The kids keep themselves busy with books, games, and drawing. We are listening to Robinson Crusoe. "The Fun Box" has helped. We have been purchasing things for the last month or so and setting them aside. The kids have watched as the items were added excitedly. I think the built up anticipation makes the fun even more fun! I was fired from driving by Barstow. Yippee!!! I am actually proud that I even gave it a shot. I've never pulled a trailer before. I am definitely a better contributor riding shotgun. My dad warned us that it would take a couple of days to get into our groove. He was right! As always! I do think we are getting this traveling thing figured out.
Note to us: Night driving is nice and peaceful as the children are quiet in slumber, but not worth the price of having a toddler think it is party time until 2am once you finally arrive at the hotel.
Another note to us: The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at Holiday Inn is the BOMB! However, I don't know if they are making much money off of us;)
Last note to us: Las Vegas is NOT a good stopping place along the way to Cedar City!!!!!
The kids are learning geography and experiencing real-life budgeting. We are making it a family affair to stay "in" budget and making choices together. So far, so good! The oldest kids are why we can even do this. Their help is AMAZING! My little ones are SO blessed to have such great older brothers and sisters to LOVE them like they do. The little ones LOVE them so much in return. I am SO blessed to get to watch all the LOVE between them. We are certainly on an adventure of a lifetime!

Looks like lots of fun. I should have warned you about Vegas :) We stop in Mesquite or State Line. Zions looks beautiful. We are on our way to Lake Powell about the time you will be returning home. I think you should have hired a driver for your trip but am glad you don't have to do anymore of it.
Looks like you are off to a great start! Enjoy yourselves and stay safe. We just got home from our "adventure" to the river. We had a great time too! Looking forward to more pictures soon. :)
